Are Razer headsets worth it? This is a question many gamers want to know. As a gamer. I also understand it is imperative to have the most advanced hardware your budget can afford.

Especially in today’s competitive video games, where it is best to get fully immersed in the action. That is where a decent set of cans are needed. Providing that convenience while offering superb audio. So, keep reading as we dive into this Razer gaming range.

Without further ado, let’s dive in!

Are Razer Headsets Worth It? The Benefits

Razer headsets are some of the most impressive gaming headsets for gamers. In the past however, users often scrutinised their build quality, and higher price tag. In recent years, they have vastly improved, and you cannot doubt their features that are only matched by a headset brands such as SteelSeries, Logitech, Epos and HyperX.

Price & Warranties

It is no secret Razer gaming products are known for being expensive like their Razer laptops. Over the years, Razer has received its fair share of criticism for its pricing. However, premium brands are all the same in this regard, the brand name will cost you a bit more.

Back in the day, Razer charged higher prices for poorly built products. For instance, take the Barracuda HP-1 released in 2006 or the Tiamat Elite 7.1 Analog headset released a few years later. Priced at a whopping $129.99 and $179.99.

Neither headset fared well with fellow gamers, and the higher price tag was a common factor among complainants. The point I am trying to convey. Razer has always charged higher prices for their products. The difference is now their gaming products have improved.

So much so that you will find not just their gaming headsets but Razer gaming laptops, keyboards, and gaming mice at the top of some of the most respected tech review companies on the internet. Tom’s guide and on TechRadar, to name a few.

Techradar.com has not just one. But two Razer headsets are on its top 5 list. Tom’s Guide features two in its top 10 best gaming headsets. So if you’re still concerned, if Razer headsets are worth it? Knowing this information should give you confidence.

Has Razer’s Customer Reviews Improved?

In recent years, customer ratings for Razer headsets have improved. With many more positive reviews than critical ones. Nevertheless, I also understand that not every review will be a positive one. However, the same holds true for most premium products and brands.

With Razer headsets, previously they would average 3.2 to 3.5 out of 5 stars on websites like Amazon. These days, they are averaging 4.5 out of 5. Which is a vast improvement.

Razer Also Has Great Options

What Razer also does well is that they have something for all budgets. Not only do they offer high-quality premium gaming headsets in the $100 and $200 range. Razer also have decent headphones for $70 and below. Their cheaper headsets like the Razer Krakens are great and after two years of use, they are still in pristine condition.

I have also had favourable experiences with their more expensive Razer gaming headsets, such as the Razer Barracuda. They have delivered effective comms in Call of Duty Warzone and are also decent music listeners. While retailing at $159, the same price as the SteelSeries Arctis Pro.

Design & Build Quality

When considering a gaming headset, there are a few things that you need to take into account. Sound is possibly up there as one of the most significant. If you want the most immersive gaming headset experience, you also need to focus on the design.

Poorly designed headsets can make wearing them for long periods a tad uncomfortable. As a gamer myself. Gaming sessions can last until the wee hours so comfort is king.

So how do Razer’s headset fare?

From my own experiences I have always found their headsets comfortable to wear. Featuring leather materials throughout and memory foam ear cushions for added comfort. Notably, Razer tends to put more effort into comfort. Their headsets are never too heavy and always look like a premium gaming headset should.

As for the build quality, most, if not all, Razer headsets have steel padded adjustable headbands adding to their durability and flexibility. A lot of other gaming headsets, with the exception of a few premium brands, are mostly plastic. Too much plastic can make unwanted noises when adjusted and is prone to breaking easily.

For gaming, it is crucial that your headset can withstand the rigours of a gamer’s life, so they need to be sturdy, so your headset lasts a long time. In my opinion, this is something Razer delivers in abundance. I have to say ‘Razer kills it when it comes to design. And their gaming headsets are worth it if you also judge them by their build quality as well.

Sound Technology

A good-sounding gaming headset will allow you to focus more on your game audio, rather than outside distractions. Poorly sounding headsets can lead to a terrible experience, especially for action-packed gameplay where hearing enemy footsteps is critical to delivering on your goals.

On paper, Razer has it all, from the cheapest Kraken X to the most expensive Razer Barracuda Pro, feature 7.1 surround sound or deliver on THX Spatial audio support. Which is a kind of advanced 7.1 surround sound that helps improve your in-game awareness.

Razer Uses Titanium 50mm Drivers

TriForce Titanium 50mm Drivers on the Razer Headsets

Newer headsets like the Razer Barracuda Pro and BlackShark, come with TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers. Featuring a titanium-coated diaphragm that lets you separate audio frequencies. As well as fine-tune high, medium and low ranges and powerful base. Though, you can expect to pay a pretty penny for this privilege.

Razer states;

‘The combination of THX Spatial and TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers will deliver detailed and punchy sound, bringing your movies and games alive’

I would have to say when it comes to sound, Razer will not let you down. Their newer models have all the latest tech, and only a few gaming headset brands that can match Razer. Does this make Razer headsets worth it? I have to say it does.

Microphone

For gaming, effective comms is vital and could be the difference between a swift team DUB or a disappointing and miserable loss. So it’s imperative you hear exactly what your teammates are saying. Therefore, a high-quality microphone is one of the most significant factors when choosing a gaming headset.

The good thing about Razer is that they have the full range of microphones from retractable to detachable and bendable to flexible. They also have headsets with detachable boom microphones that help with improved voice clarity.

Razer Super Cardioid Microphone

Some also come with Razer’s latest Super Cardioid HyperClear mic that rejects even more noise from the sides. Supported by Razer Synapse 3 software. So you can further enhance your experience by improving your voice quality.

And almost all Razer headsets have noise cancelling properties that further help minimise outside distractions. In the end, if you are looking for some headphones designed specifically for gamers Razer will definitely meet your needs on the microphone front.

Conclusion

Razer has been known to get a bit of flack for being expensive. But the question remains, are Razer headsets worth it? In my opinion, I think they are, is Razer a good brand for gaming headsets. Yes, but like all premium brands there are some bad reviews.

In the end, if you are looking for the best gaming headset for Warzone or any other game, you should expect to pay a higher price. Whether that be from SteelSeries, Razer, or Logitech. You must also look at reviews while Razer has more or less similar ratings across the range.

However, you shouldn’t limit yourself to these brands because there are other superb brands like Epos and Hyper X also make excellent gaming headsets. Yet, don’t be surprised to pay a higher price tag than Razer. (This may surprise some)
