How To Choose A Razer Laptop For Your School?

Razer laptops are available in four screen sizes, 17-inch, 15-inch, 14-inch, and 13-inch. However, not all of them will be suitable laptops for school work. So keep reading as I give you reasons why you should or should not consider each Razer Blade laptop.

The first thing you should consider is whether you should buy a Razer laptop. Ask yourself, ‘do you want to play games? If so, what type of games do you enjoy? If the games you typically play are lightweight and do not need high-end specs such as Minecraft or need a laptop for Roblox. It is not necessary to have such powerful hardware. And therefore, a cheaper laptop with integrated graphics would be OK.

If you play more powerful games outside school hours, like GTA V or Call of Duty warzone. Then you have a better reason to choose a Razer laptop over many others. Simply because, Razer’s computers are more than capable of handling these types of games. As well as handling all your schoolwork without lag or other performance issues.

Is the Razer Blade 17 Good for School?

The Razer Blade 17 is a great gaming laptop and considered as close to a desktop replacement for its power, but it may be too big for school. It has a large 17-inch screen and weighs roughly 6.06 pounds (2.75 kg). So it might be a bit too much to carry around campus all day. Where it could easily get damaged. And that would be a nightmare, especially after breaking the bank to get one. However, the Razer Blade 17-inch is a great choice for gamers or power users, just not the best choice for school.

VERDICT: TOO BIG FOR SCHOOL

Is the Razer Blade 15 Good for School?

The Razer Blade 15 laptop would be a much better option for school or college than the 17-inch Razer Blade. For starters, it has a smaller screen size and weighs nearly a whole 2lbs less. Which means it would be much easier to carry around. The Razer Blade 15 weighs in at 4.40 pounds (2.01 kg). However, if you choose the 4K UHD display option instead, it is slightly heavier at 4.59 pounds (2.08 kg). Yet, still light enough to not be too heavy.

In addition, it also has plenty of ports. More than enough to be able to connect all your devices, monitors, and any other peripherals you might use for studying. Thunderbolt 4, USB Type-C and Type-A, HDMI, and a headphone jack are included.

The 15-inch Razer Blade also comes with the latest ‘Alder Lake’ 12th Generation Intel Core i7 CPUs that will deliver outstanding performance. And, NVidia GeForce RTX 30 series graphics, so if you want to play games, you can. And there is more than enough RAM (max 64GB) and storage capacity (max 2TB) to last you through school and college without running out of space too often.

Is the Razer Blade 14 Good for School?

The Razer Blade 14 is the perfect size and weight for taking to school. But it still has powerful hardware packed inside. The newer models feature NVidia GeForce RTX 30 series discrete graphics cards, so you can play the latest games. Or you can take on some serious graphics editing work without experiencing any issues.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX; GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060, 3070, 3080 Ti; RAM: Fixed 16GB DDR4-3200MHz; Screen: QHD 165Hz 1440p; Storage: 1TB SSD (M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0); Battery: 61.6 Wh; Wireless: Wi-Fi 6E; Camera: FHD 1080p; Keyboard: Per-key RGB – Anti-Ghost; Weight: 3.92 lbs (1.78kg)

However, the big difference here is that the Razer Blade 14-inch laptops are only available with AMD Ryzen processors. Namely, the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX and the older Ryzen 5900HX AMD CPU. As opposed to other Razer laptops that have Intel Core i7 and i9 processors. That said, it will still run games and other programs you might use for school smoothly.

Nevertheless, the keyboard is backlit, so you can still type in low light conditions. It also has plenty of speedy PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. The downside is that the RAM is limited to 16GB. This means you cannot upgrade with more but for school work 16GB of RAM would be more than enough. In the end, the 14-inch Razer Blade is an excellent choice for students looking for a powerful and portable laptop to take to and from school without taking up too much room in their bags.

VERDICT: BEST CHOICE FOR SCHOOL

How Much RAM Do You Need For School?

How much RAM you need for school will depend on what you plan to do with your Razer laptop. However, 8GB of RAM would be ok for most tasks. 4GB of RAM may even be ok if all you want to do is things like browsing, writing and so on. But do not expect to do nearly as much as if you had 8GB of RAM in your brand-new laptop.

The good thing is that all the newly released Razer laptops have at least 16 GB of DDR5 RAM. Which is enough memory for most programmes and apps you might use for school. And 16 GB of RAM is known as the sweet spot for gaming. So if you plan to use your Razer laptop for other things than school work like gaming or photo and video editing, you can.

Note: My gaming laptop has 16GB of RAM. I do not have any problems playing games like Call of Duty Warzone and GTA 5. Additionally, I can also edit videos without ever experiencing issues.
