Do Razer Laptops Break Easily?

Razer laptops are less likely to break easily compared to other gaming laptops. They feature an all-alumimum chassis that is both strong and durable. But, like any electronic device, there is a chance of hardware failure or malfunction. So it is imperative to handle your laptop with care and purchase it from a reputable seller, and check warranty terms.

What are Razer laptops and What Do They Offer Gamers?

The Razer Blade’s are premium gaming laptops that offer great performance. The most suitable choice for esports gamers who need a laptop that can keep up with their intense gameplay. In modern games like Red Dead Redemption or COD Warzone.

Razer’s laptops always come with high-end hardware to run games at high settings. They also have beautiful high Hz display options. Lots of RAM and storage, plus plenty of gaming-specific features.

These features include RGB backlit keyboards for gaming in low light conditions. Optimised vapour chamber cooling systems. Plus, Razer’s Synapse software to control your lighting, and sound settings. Even the base model Razer has these.

Why Don’t Razer Blade Gaming Laptops Break Easily?

Razer laptops are known for their durability and are built to last. The Razer Blade 15 is definitely one of the most reliable laptops on the market. And you will find that all Razer laptops have the same all-aluminium construction that is strong and sturdy.

The model I got my hands on was the newly released Razer Blade 15. By far one of the most impressive gaming laptops, I have owned. It has an Alder Lake Intel Core i7 12th Generation CPU. Paired with a NVidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card.

So far, the Blade 15 has been a joy to use and anything I throw at it, it delivers. That be the latest AAA games or Adobe Photoshop design work.

Moreover, the first thing I noticed is that this Razer Blade laptop is remarkably lightweight considering it is a 15-inch gaming laptop. (See its compact size below)

If you compare the Razer Blade 15 to other 15-inch gaming laptops. Like the HP Omen, you can clearly see this difference in size. The Razer Blade has a more compact design, and a step up in quality.

Therefore, as far as the build quality is concerned, a Razer Blade laptop is less likely to break so easily if dropped or knocked. However, you will pay a high price for that convenience.

Next, let’s take a look at some common issues that some Razer laptop users have faced over the last year or so. This will give you a more comprehensive overall picture about the durability of a Razer laptop.

Most Common Problems with Razer Laptops?

Razer gaming laptops are a great choice for gamers, they can match or offer better performance than models like the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G or ASUS ROG Strix G series or even some of the Alienware models.

However, like those laptop brands, they are not without there issues. The most common issues I have seen about Razer Blade laptops include. Their batteries being poor, and some even swelled.

Other issues I have seen often, is Razer laptops overheating. So, as a Razer Blade laptop user, myself, I will give you my take on these concerns.

Razer Blade Battery Issues

From reading through forums, and social media pages I noticed users have had issues with the batteries swelling up in their Razer Blade laptops. Which I’m sure would put doubts in your head.

Even so, some people do not realize that laptop batteries (Not Just Razer) should not exceed a certain temperature. If the battery is exposed to excessive temperature for extended periods.

The battery is likely to stop working, bulge, bubble, and it could even damage your laptop. Extreme heat can also lead to battery corrosion that can shorten the batteries lifespan.

As you can see from the image above. The battery should not exceed 65 degrees Celsius or 149 degrees Fahrenheit. If it does, it can cause major unrepairable issues such as those mentioned above.

Battery Swelling Issues

Any gaming laptop can experience issues with their batteries swelling up. This Reddit user highlighted the same issue with their Alienware model – See Reddit Post here.

The only way to prevent your battery from swelling is to maintain proper temperature management. By using a laptop cooling pad, elevating your laptop, and also cleaning regularly can help.

Lastly, reducing unnecessary processors will also lower the temperature. However, there are also many other things you can do that can help keep your laptop cooler, which I will get into later.

There will of course be some laptops that have faulty batteries, and it would not matter how careful you are. Battery swelling, or worse, failure, cannot be avoided. And that is what warranties are for.

Razer Laptops Have Poor Battery Life

Another common issue Razer’s laptops suffer from. Is they do not have the longest battery life. And this is something I cannot deny after owning two Razer Blade laptops.

So, it wouldn’t matter if Razer laptops break easily or not. If battery life is more important to you than anything else. Then, a Razer Blade, Razer Book, or a Razer Blade Stealth would not be suitable for you.

You also need to understand, these are powerful gaming laptops with desktop-class hardware inside. Chroma powered RGB keyboards and multiple fans to power. Therefore, it would need one big powerful battery to keep it all ticking along smoothly.

Here are the Razer Blade 15 battery life tests. What I can say, is that the battery lasted long enough to get the job I needed to do done.

Overheating Can Cause Razer Laptops to Break Easily!

One of the most common issues Razer laptop users complain about is how hot they can get. And maybe this is another reason why people seem to think Razer laptops will break easily.

Whether it be the older models from Razer or their brand new models. Razer laptops all feature the same all aluminium chassis. Which helps make them very thin and extremely lightweight.

However, Aluminium is also an excellent heat conductor that helps to soak up heat. This downside is that it can also make the case of the laptop feel warm, and in some places, it can feel quite hot.

Here is what else you should know.

It is possible for Razer laptops to break easily due to overheating. Although, any laptop designed for gaming is susceptible to damage if it gets too hot.

However, Razer Blade laptops feature an advanced vapour chamber cooling system. This cooling system is far more efficient than traditional cooling methods that consist of copper heat pipes.

Razer Uses Vapor Chamber Cooling
Vapour Chamber Cooling System

The good thing about the vapour chamber cooling system is it is able to spread the heat in two directions. Traditional methods used on gaming laptops can only spread heat in one direction.

But the downside to this system. Is it pushes the heat out through the keyboard. This is what makes the surface of a Razer Blade laptop including the palm rest and the keyboard area feel quite hot.

Lastly, even though Razer laptops have multiple fans inside plus an advanced cooling system. They will still need additional cooling when gaming. If left unattended, can lead to high temperatures.

So, What Can You Do?

If you are worried about your new Razer laptop overheating, there are a few things you can do. First, you need to install a temperature monitoring tool. Something like HWINFO or Core Temp.

With this you can check the temperature of your components like the CPU and GPU in real time.

Second, ensure you place your Razer laptop in a well-ventilated area and never block the vents. You should also reduce the brightness of your screen. And avoid using higher settings in games.

Finally, invest in a Razer Blade laptop cooling pad. One specifically suited to your model. Also, using a laptop cooler underneath your device can help elevate your laptop to allow for increased airflow.

What are Razer Warranty Packages for?

The truth is that gaming or running intensive programs and apps on your Razer Blade laptop, will generate heat. No matter how much cooling you have in place. It will eventually wear down the hardware.

There are also other things you can do that will speed up this process. Like, installing software that you shouldn’t. Poor maintenance and excessive overclocking can also cause your laptop to break.

Moreover, upgrading with additional storage or adding extra GB of RAM can cause issues. But the good thing is, if something goes wrong Razer will NOT VOID the warranty for upgrading your laptop.

However, the other things mentioned above. Razer will void the warranty and that would be a shame. Because this is where Razer excels, their warranties are some of the most comprehensive warranty packages available.

Razer Warranties are Some of the best!

For starters, Razer’s laptops come with a standard 1-year laptop warranty, plus a 2-year battery warranty. Razer also offers the Razer Care Elite and Razer Care Essential warranty packages.

With these additional warranties, you will enjoy 24-hour support for claims. FREE shipping for repairs and Razer will also foot the bill both ways – most other laptop brands will charge for this service.

You’re also covered for accidental spills, drops, falls and knocks. That means, with one of the additional warranty packages Razer offers, you can worry less about your Razer laptop breaking down so easily.

The Pros of Owning a Razer Laptop

There are many pros of owning one of the Razer Blade laptops. From my experience having had two, there are many more pros than cons. I love my new Blade 15 from the first time I used it and would recommend one to anyone who wants a stylish, solid laptop for gaming and content creation.

The Cons of Owning a Razer Laptop

Over the last few years, I’ve owned two Razer Blade gaming laptops. Just received my second one, the latest Razer Blade 15. I absolutely love it. It’s by far the best gaming laptop I’ve ever used. However, there are a few cons to owning one.

  • They’re Really Expensive – My Razer laptop cost nearly $4000 and that’s not cheap by any means. But, if you want the best and you can afford one, they’re worth the investment.
  • They can run hot – It is true, the chassis on a Razer laptop can feel quite hot. Remember, they are made of all-aluminium which soaks up heat.
  • Not the best battery life – It is also true; Razer laptops do not have the best battery life. So, if battery power is more important to you, this will not be the right choice.

Despite these cons, I would still highly recommend a Razer Blade laptop for any serious gamer out there. They offer the best performance and gaming experience you can get, and they also look so cool.

How to Prevent Your Razer Laptop from Breaking?

No one likes a broken laptop. Especially not an expensive Razer laptop. But don’t worry, there are ways to prevent your Razer laptop from breaking down so easily. With just a little bit of care, you can keep it running like new for many years to come.

  1. Keep your laptop clean. Dust and dirt can build up and cause your laptop to overheat. Use compressed air or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to clean out the vents.
  2. Be careful with the battery. Batteries are finicky things, and they don’t like being abused. Avoid leaving your laptop plugged in all the time as this can shorten the lifespan of the battery. Never, let it run completely out of juice, and you should keep it charged to around 80%.
  3. Use a laptop cooling pad. Cooling pads are cheap and worth the investment. The Thermaltake 2.0 cooling pad is the best one I have found for the Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop.
  4. Update your software regularly. Software updates usually contain important security patches that can help protect your computer from malicious attacks. Keeping your software up to date will also help ensure that you have the latest features and bug fixes.
  5. Back up your data regularly. Losing important files and documents is one of the worst things that can happen. To prevent this from happening, make sure to back up your data regularly.

By following these simple tips, you can help prevent your Razer laptop from breaking easily. Taking good care of your laptop computer will not only prolong its life it can save you money in the long run.

Can the Razer Blade Last More Than 3 to 4 Years?

With proper care the Razer Blade can last longer than 3 or 4 years. Although it does depend on how you use it. If you’re a light user and only play basic older games, then it should last several years.

However, if you’re a hardcore gamer who plays the latest demanding games. It may only offer the level of performance you need to be competitive for around 2 to 3 years.

As an owner of a Razer Blade laptop. To make sure it lasts longer, I follow the simple rules above. I also don’t do anything that speeds up the failure process. In addition, I make sure it is running at the optimal temperature.

Besides, the latest Razer laptops are expensive options for gamers and content creators. So, it is worth investing the time to take good care of it, so it doesn’t break so easily. After all, it is my pride and joy!
