Cooling SystemRazer laptops are equipped with the best type of computer cooling system to keep the components cool during intense gaming. Proper cooling is essential for the longevity of your laptop as it prevents overheating and component failure.
Battery HealthThe battery is one of the most important components of a gaming laptop. Over time, the capacity may degrade, resulting in short life span. Some users have reported Razer Blade battery bulge in their Razer notebooks.
Software UpdatesKeeping your laptop’s operating system and drivers up to date is crucial for its longevity. Software updates often include bug fixes, security patches, and performance improvements, ensuring that your laptop runs smoothly and efficiently. Regularly check for updates and install them promptly.
Proper HandlingHow you handle your Razer laptop can significantly impact its longevity. Avoid dropping or mishandling the laptop, as this can cause internal damage. Also, be cautious when plugging and unplugging peripherals to prevent physical damage to USB ports and other slots.

Leading to poor performance, permanent damage, and a short life span. With these steps, you can enjoy your Razer laptop for years to come, with optimal performance and longevity.

Reliability and Lifespan

Razer designed its gaming laptops to deliver the best gaming experience. From my experience with the new Razer Blade 15. I can see why these devices are a step up from other popular high end gaming laptops like the Lenovo Legion 5 or HP Omen 15 series.

Only a few other laptop brands like the Dell Alienware range or the Apple MAC computers can match the durability and reliability of a Razer Blade model. Whether you have one of Razer’s high end gaming laptops, the base model, or the Razer Blade Stealth laptop. You get the same all-aluminium premium build that ensures Razer laptops are durable and sturdy.

The Razer Blade 15 feels like nothing I have ever experienced before with any laptop computer I have previously tested. This model, packs some powerful internal components. Including an Intel Core 12th Gen processor and a NVidia RTX 3070 TI graphics card. With it, I am easily able to play the latest AAA game titles like COD Warzone on high settings.

However, some Razer laptop users have experienced some major issues. For example, the keyboard and palm rest feeling extremely hot underload. While others have reported the battery power being inadequate and some batteries have failed altogether.

With my Razer laptop in hand, let’s see why this is. This will help if you are looking for a new gaming experience but are unsure if the Razer Blade laptop is the right one.

How Long Do Razer Laptop Batteries Last?

Razer Blade laptop batteries on average can last 4 or 5 hours. However, this does vary depending on the type of computing tasks you are working on. For example, if you have several programs running at once. Or running an intensive application like Adobe or a video game. Then the battery will drain faster and may only last 2 or 3 hours.

Razer notebooks also have powerful hardware and illuminated RGB Chroma powered keyboards. Therefore, a lot of battery power is needed to ensure the device is able to run. That said, see the Razer Blade 15 battery life test results below.

What Shortens The Battery Lifespan?

Excessive heat is a major factor that shortens the lifespan of a Razer laptop battery. Prolonged use without proper ventilation or exposure to high temperatures can stress the battery and cause it to degrade overtime.

Overcharging is another culprit. Leaving the laptop plugged in and fully charged for extended periods strains the battery unnecessarily, leading to decreased lifespan. Moreover, frequent deep discharges also harm the battery’s lifespan. While occasional full discharges are important for capacity calibration, doing this frequently accelerates battery wear.

Power-hungry applications and software drain the battery rapidly and add strain. Closing unnecessary programs and optimizing power settings can help conserve battery life. Physical damage is another concern. Accidental drops or impacts can harm battery cells and affect performance. It’s essential to handle the laptop with care and use a protective case.

Battery Temperatures

Some users have encountered problems with bulging batteries in their Razer laptops. What some people may not realize is that these batteries should not exceed certain temperatures.

For instance, the recommended battery temperature for the Razer Blade 15 is 65 degrees Celsius or 149 degrees Fahrenheit (see image below). If your laptop battery surpasses this temperature, you are likely to encounter battery issues, and in some cases, complete failure.

Therefore, proper care is crucial, which involves effective heat management to ensure your laptop operates at optimal temperatures and avoid these common issues. On the positive side, Razer now offers a 2-year battery warranty on their Razer gaming laptops, indicating that they have acknowledged the issues users have faced in recent years.

Do Razer Laptops Get Hot When Gaming?

Like most gaming notebooks, Razer laptops can feel quite hot during gaming. And if you continuously operate the device at high temperatures without implementing heat-reducing measures, it can significantly shorten the life span.

Notably, after using the Razer Blade 15 over the last few months, I can understand why some users have complained about the keyboard and palm rests feeling extremely warm.

You see, Razer notebooks are vapor chamber cooling laptops, which works by dissipating heat from core components like the GPU and CPU. Then expels the excess heat through the keyboard and palm rest areas. Consequently, this makes the surface area feel warmer.

How Vapor Chamber Cooling Works

However, the vapor chamber cooling system is far more effective at dissipating heat than traditional cooling methods with copper and metal heat pipes. And is evident as the top three gaming laptops with the best cooling systems all feature the vapor chamber thermal system.

Also, Razer Blade gaming laptops are made with CNC milled aluminium throughout which is in itself an excellent heat conductor that will soak up a lot of heat. Although, this does make the chassis feel much warmer when under heavy load than other laptops that are mostly plastic.

Does Overheating Affect the Lifespan?

Any laptop model that runs hot for hours will lead to permanent damage. Both affecting the internal hardware and the lifespan of the device. Razer laptops also suffer this same problem. The heat can cause the internal components to fail, resulting in a loss performance.

So worry less about the chassis or the keyboard becoming hot. And focus more on what heat reduction measures you need to have in place to ensure the CPU and GPU are operating at optimal temperatures and this will help extend the life span of your Razer laptop.
