Lucky for you, Razer laptops have some great built-in tools and features to help with just about anything. Whether that’s for taking your first screenshot on your Razer laptop, or you’re looking for an application to help kick off your screen recording journey.
There are also loads of useful apps and programs out there that you can download and use. Some of them can be tricky to master, and some will cost you your hard-earned cash.
The first tool that we recommend you use for screen recording is the Xbox Game Bar, and it’s most probably the easiest one of them all. All Windows-based laptops should have this Xbox app built-in
How to set up the Xbox Game Bar ready for Screen Recording?
As I said, the Xbox Game Bar application is a great option for screen recording on a Razer laptop. It is easy to use, and it has a lot of great features. With the Xbox Game Bar, you can record your entire screen or just a specific portion of it. You can also choose to record audio from your laptop or from your microphone.
So, if you’re recording a gaming session, and with the right settings, the Xbox Game Bar will automatically start recording your gameplay when you start playing your game.
Setting Up Xbox Game Bar to Screen Record
First, you must be signed in to your Microsoft account. You can open the Xbox app and sign in that way, and if you don’t have an account, you can set up one here. Now you’re ready to set up the Xbox game bar and learn how to screen record on your Razer laptop.
Step One: Press the Windows logo + I to open Windows Settings.
Step Two: Type Xbox, you will see “Enable Xbox Game Bar,” and press Enter.

Recording your Screen with Xbox Game Bar
Step One: Open the Xbox game bar by pressing Windows logo + G on your keyboard.
Step Two: Click on the record button (circle), which is located on Xbox game bar. You are now recording your screen on your Razer laptop. You will also see how long you have been recording as well.
Step Three: To stop recording, click on the same circle.

How to Screen Record on a Razer Laptop with OBS Screen Recording Software?
Next up, we have OBS or Open Broadcaster Software. This screen recording software is free open-source software developed by volunteers. It is a great choice for gamers who want to record their gameplay.
Although you can record your game footage using their Razer laptop. This tool is a bit more tricky to master than the Xbox game bar. It does offer a lot more flexibility, in terms of what you can record.
Screen Recording with OBS
To start recording your screen with OBS, the first step would be to download OBS and run the setup wizard. While doing this the software will look to find the best settings that your Razer laptop can handle, which you can easily modify later.
By default OBS will automatically record your desktop audio and microphone, however, you can manually select them in the settings. To do this open the software and click on the “Settings” button.
Then, navigate to the “Audio” tab and in the Global Audio Devices section select your preferred audio devices, and then click Apply.

Game Capture is how OBS records your Gameplay on your Razer laptop. You can set up game capture to automatically start recording when you launch a specific game (or games) by setting it up as a “Game Capture” source in OBS. You can also choose to only record the game audio or record your microphone and game audio together.
- Select Window Capture for non-game applications
Window capture is how you can record a specific window on your desktop in OBS software. This can be really useful if there is a game or application that you want to record, but don’t want to include any of the other windows on your desktop. To set it up, first select “Window Capture” as your video source in the “Sources” tab. Then, select the window you want to record from the list that appears. You can also resize and position the window how you want it on your screen. Finally, click on the “Start Recording” button.

OBS will save your videos as .mkv files on your computer. It is recommended to keep them as .mkv files and only change them to MP4 files after you have finished recording. This is to ensure your video files do not become corrupt. (recommended by OBS)

After your test is finished, stop the recording and you can easily find it using File -> Show Recordings. This will take you straight to the folder on your computer, then Right-Click the video file and press Play.
How to Change OBS Video File To MP4
To change your OBS video file to .mp4 – click on File located top-right, then click on Remux Recordings.
Next, click on the three dots and select the video file you want to change to .mp4. When you see the target file click on the Remux button. Your file will now be found as an .MP4 file in your video folder.

To start screen recording on your Razer laptop with NVidia GeForce Experience, first, make sure you have the latest version of the software installed.
