ASUS has always produced great laptops; they are a popular choice for many Windows users. But still, after all these years, one question still often crops up, how to take a screenshot on an ASUS laptop.
Do not fear! In this post, I will not only show you how to take screenshots of the entire screen. I will also show you how to capture just a portion of the screen so you can share them wherever you wish.
So, without further ado, let’s dive in.
How to Screenshot on ASUS Laptop?
To take a screenshot on an ASUS laptop press the FN Key + PRTSC Key. The keyboard will dim, and the screen shot is then saved to the clipboard. You can then paste the screenshot into an app such as MS paint by pressing CTRL + V together.

How to Take a Screenshot on ASUS Laptop (Step by Step)
The keyboard shortcut tables listed above are ideal for users who need to quickly capture the screen and share it with their friends at work or school. If you are still unsure, the following step by step guides will walk you through each method. My goal is to help you take the best-looking screenshots.

Tip #1: Using the Print Screen Button
The process for taking a screenshot on an ASUS device will be different depending on the type of software it’s running on. Windows 10 and Windows 11 laptops differ in terms of which buttons do what.
So, I’ve covered the easy-to-follow steps to cover both operating systems here when using the first method, using the print screen button to take screen captures on your laptop computer.
Print Screen Method Windows 10
To take a screenshot on an ASUS laptop with the Windows 10 operating system. Press the FN + Print Screen button. This will capture your current screen and save it to the clipboard. You can then paste the screenshot into an app of your choice by pressing CTRL + V.

- Press CTRL + V to paste the screenshot into an app
If you prefer to save the screenshot to a folder, press the Windows Key + PrtScrn button to take a screenshot of your current screen and then saves the screenshot to the screenshot folder.
Print Screen Method Windows 11
To screenshot on ASUS laptop with Windows 11. Press the FN key + Print Screen Key. This will capture your current screen and save it to the clipboard; you can then paste the screenshot into an application.

- Press CTRL + V to paste the screenshot into an app
If you prefer to save the capture to a folder. Press the FN key + Print Screen key combination to take a screenshot of your current screen and then save it to the screenshots folder.
Take a Screenshot of an Active Window
If you have multiple displays (laptop display + a monitor) the screenshot method listed above may not be ideal because it will capture both screens. If you want to take a screenshot of the active window only.
- Windows 11 Laptops: Select the screen and press FN + ALT + PRTSc buttons
- Windows 10 Laptops: Select the screen and press ALT + PRTSc buttons
If you want to instantly use the screenshot, open up your graphics editor of choice such as Microsoft paint or Photoshop by Adobe. Then press Ctrl + V to paste the newly captured screenshot into the application. Then save the images as a JPEGs or PNGs and use them later.
Tip #2: Using the Snipping Tool
Windows-based laptops have built-in tools to help you take a screenshot of the screen and in many different ways. One such tool is the Windows snipping tool, formally known as the Snip & Sketch tool.
The snip tool enables you to either take a screenshot of the entire screen or just part of the screen. You can then save your screenshots in any format or location on your device.
The built-in snipping tool also has other features that gives you the ability to quickly edit and share your captures online. Or you can save the screenshot to use with your favourite image editor at a later date.

Opening the Snipping Tool
For all ASUS laptop Windows users, first press the start menu or the Windows key and start typing Snipping Tool in the search bar. Then select the snipping tool from the menu. Alternatively, you can press Windows Key + Shift + S to open the snip tool.
- Click Windows Key, type Snipping Tool into search box
- Select the Snipping Tool App from the menu
How to Use the Snipping Tool
After opening the screenshot tool. First, select New. Then choose which area on your screen needs capturing. Choose from Rectangular mode, Freeform, or Windows mode (which will grab everything inside the current foreground window). The Full-Screen option will capture the whole display or displays.
After taking the screenshot, you can decide to either Crop (to remove unwanted areas). Annotate (drawing arrows, circles, squares or text), Or Save As to save your screenshot in the screenshot folder. Lastly, you can select the Send To option to share the screenshot online.

Tip #3: Using the Xbox Game Bar
One of the top well-known screenshot extensions is the built-in Xbox Game Bar. The game bar is great for capturing a screenshot of your entire screen and can also act as a gameplay video recorder.
You can easily share the videos or screen captures online with your gamer buddies. I can vouch for the quality of the Xbox Game Bar. I use it to screen record gameplay on my new Razer laptop. Then I use the recorded videos for content creation or social media posts.

Helpful Information: I also use the Xbox Game Bar to easily take a screenshot on my Razer laptop as well as my older Lenovo laptop. All these years later this Xbox tool from Microsoft still work’s a treat.
How to Open the Xbox Game bar?
To open up the Xbox game bar application, press Windows logo key + G. Alternatively, you can press the Windows key and type Xbox Game Bar in the search bar.
How to use the Xbox Game Bar?
To use the Xbox Game Bar to screenshot using your ASUS laptop, first, launch the game or program that you want to capture an image. Then press Win+G and then select the Camera Icon. This will then take a screenshot of the whole screen and save it to the captures folder inside Windows Explorer.
- Open the game or programme you want to capture
- Press Windows Key + G and then select the Camera Icon
- The screenshots are saved to the captures folder
