Razer is a well-known gaming brand and are adored by millions of gamers around the world. Razer is known for their high-quality Blade laptops, gaming keyboards, headsets and their cool gaming mouse range. But why are Razer laptops so expensive when their customer service is something to be desired. Above anything else are they worth buying?
In my opinion, Razer Blade laptops are expensive because of the high-quality CNC-machined aluminium materials used in the build and are designed to be lightweight, thin and feature powerful hardware. And advanced vapour chamber cooling systems that ensures maximum gaming performance or any computing task you do.
Besides, any decent gaming laptop costs a small fortune, especially when you compare most gaming notebooks to an equivalent gaming PC. With that said, I decided to buy the Razer Blade 15 laptop to see why Razer Blade laptops have a higher price tag.
Why Are Razer Laptops So Expensive?
Razer Blade laptops have gained a reputation for being on the pricier side. But why are Razer laptops so expensive? Razer laptops are expensive due to their high-end components such as powerful graphics cards, slim and lightweight design, gaming-specific features like Chroma RGB lighting and high refresh rate displays. Razer is also a premium gaming brand and users are willing to pay a higher price for their products.

Firstly, Razer laptops including the Razer Blade 14, Razer Blade 15, Raze Blade 17 and the newer Razer Blade 16 and Razer Blade 18 gaming notebooks are all equipped with high-end PC components, ensuring top-notch performance and a seamless experience.
Components, such as powerful processors and ample RAM, come at a premium cost, driving up the price of Razer laptops. Additionally, the customizable Chroma RGB lighting adds a personal touch to the laptop. These gaming-centric features come at an extra cost, which is reflected in the higher price. Razer is also a premium gaming brand known.
The gaming brand’s reputation and customer loyalty contribute to the higher price point of Razer Blade laptops. Buyers are willing to pay a premium for the assurance of top-notch build quality, durability, and reliable customer service.

The Razer Blade Laptop: A Top Gaming Notebook
After receiving the Razer Blade 15 and opened up the packaging the first thing I noticed was the high quality feel of the device. I own several powerful gaming laptops and the 15-inch Razer Blade is by far one of the best laptop computers I have tested.
The craftsmanship is second to none and now I understand why Razer is expensive as the unique and sleek design is extremely solid and portable. Apart from being built with high quality materials, the aluminum chassis ensures Razer notebooks will last a long time.
Not only that, Razer manages to squeeze in the most powerful hardware available into their sleek and stylish chassis. Including the latest NVidia GPUs and Intel or AMD CPUs. Considering such powerful hardware, the Razer Blade 15 laptop is much smaller, lighter and far more compact than the HP Omen 15-inch gaming laptops for example.

Razer Laptops Have a Compact Hinge Design
Another impressive feature of the a Razer laptop is the unique hinge design. Not only is there much less movement when moving or opening the lid. The hinge design is unlike any other gaming notebook I’ve owned before. The laptop’s hinge extends the entire length of the aluminum chassis, and feels firm and compact. The strong hinge will help minimise damage and make transporting a Razer laptop from home to work and back much less stressful.
The Build Quality Is Superb
Moving on, not only do these laptops have sturdy hinges the build quality of the rest of the device is simply incredible. I didn’t expect it to be so good and can understand why Razer laptops cost more money than other laptop brands. The all aluminium material used throughout the build, makes Razer laptops a top choice for gamers and content creators and other users looking for a robust gaming notebook. Most other laptops designed for gaming only feature an aluminium frame, and the rest of the computer being mostly plastic.
Razer Laptops are Lightweight and Slim
The Razer laptop range is surprisingly lightweight, considering they’re packed with the latest computer hardware. The Razer model I bought features a next gen Intel Core i7 (Alder Lake-P CPU) and an NVidia RTX 3070 TI graphics card. It amazing how Razer manages to pack this level of PC hardware into such a small space while still offering good performance.
Feature Vapor Chamber Cooling Systems
Another reason why Razer laptops have a high price tag is the gaming brand uses a vapor chamber cooling system in their laptops to keep them running at optimal temperatures. Most other laptop manufacturers still use traditional cooling methods with copper pipes and fans.

The engineering required to install the next gen vapor chamber cooling system into a smaller form factor add to the high cost. And why Razer laptops are more expensive that similar models. Note: Razer has produced two of the best cooling gaming laptops in 2023.
Next-Level Gaming Features
Razer Blade laptops also have impressive features that other gaming laptop brands do not. For example, the Razer Chroma backlit RGB mechanical keyboards, allow users to programme each key and sync their Razer accessories that also support the software.
Other that that, if you are wondering can you use a Razer laptop for work as well as gaming, the answer is a resounding yes. The typing experience is excellent, the keyboard is comfortable and easy to use and the responsive trackpad is centred and has a glass precision touch surface. The trackpad also features multi-touch gestures, which is convenient to use.
In terms of audio, the Razer Blade 15 offers THX Spatial support which sounds good when movie watching. They also come with plenty of ports, including USB ports, HDMI 2.0 port and Thunderbolt 4 which offers significant increases in usability. However, there is no display port, so you need an adapter to connect an external monitor with DisplayPort output.

The connection can be done via the Thunderbolt 4 port, and then the external screen works beautifully. All in all, Razer laptops are worth buying, they are perfect for anyone who wants a powerful gaming laptop, that looks and runs great.
Razer Laptop Screens are Beautiful
Razer laptops are also known for their stunning displays. And I concur, the Razer Blade I purchased has a beautiful QHD display which is bright and colourful, and provides a visually pleasing viewing experience. With a 240 Hz screen resolution, the laptop delivers high frame rates, ensuring smooth and fluid visuals when running games like COD Warzone.
Additionally, the inclusion of NVidia G-Sync technology further enhances the display performance, resulting in a seamless and immersive viewing experience. Overall, Razer laptop screens are truly superb and enhance the overall gaming or multimedia experience.

Are Razer Laptops Overpriced?
Razer laptops have long been known for their high-quality build and top-notch performance. However, one common criticism of Razer laptops is their high price. Many people argue that Razer laptops are overpriced compared to other gaming laptop brands.
There are several factors that contribute to the perception of Razer laptops being overpriced. Firstly, Razer laptops often come with premium features and specifications, such as high-resolution displays, powerful processors, and dedicated graphics cards.
The premium components drive up the cost of the laptop. Additionally, Razer laptops are known for their sleek and stylish designs, which also adds to their higher price tag.
Another reason why Razer laptops are considered overpriced is the brand’s reputation and marketing. Razer has positioned itself as a premium gaming brand, and this image is reflected in the pricing of their products. The Razer has a loyal following of gamers who are willing to pay a premium for the Razer name and the associated quality and performance.
That said, having experienced the quality of the Razer Blade laptops myself. In my opinion, Razer gaming computers are not overpriced, they’re made with great care and attention to detail and deliver a highly responsive gaming experience, and top notch performance.

The Verdict, Razer Laptops Are They Worth It?
Razer Blade laptops are definitely worth it, the Razer Blade 15 for instance is the perfect gaming laptop for powerful software such as Adobe. In terms of gaming performance, I use Razer Blade 15 for playing AAA games like Call of Duty Warzone, and the computer runs like a dream. Delivering high frame rates without any issues like sluggish game play, although not surprising considering the hardware packed inside.
Even when I connect the laptop to a NVidia G-Sync compatible Samsung monitor, none of the strong performance is lost. My confidence has shot through the roof since I started gaming and working with new Razer Blade laptop. After nearly a year of use, I now understand why Razer laptops come with higher prices, but they will not disappoint.
Conclusion
Over the years, I have owned several high-quality gaming laptops. But, why are Razer laptops so expensive? Here this, after owning a Razer Blade computer for nearly a year, I can confirm these are some of most impressive gaming laptops I have tested.
In terms of build quality, the Razer Blade laptops are exceptional, the design and build materials stand out as being solid and will ensure your Razer laptop will last for years.
But, like all brands, these Razer laptops are not without their flaws. Some of things I have noticed include, bad battery life, the surface area is easily marked. And they feel quite hot when playing video games. Which can attributed to the all aluminium chassis and how this type of computer cooling system works (vapor chamber cooling)
Apart from that, Razer laptops offer powerful gaming hardware and Chroma RGB elements. Which ensures gamers looking for a responsive gaming experience and a new laptop with loads of class and plenty of computing power, the Razer Blade is an excellent choice. Just be prepared to pay a premium price tag for this brand of gaming laptop.
