Why Are Gaming Laptops So Expensive?
Gaming laptops are expensive because they are a valuable piece of technology. They offer loads of features that other devices do not, such as the ability to be used for work, school, and entertainment. Plus, they use high-quality materials and craftsmanship in their designs.
Another reason laptops are expensive is the hardware inside of them. Gamers pay top dollar for their laptops because they need the best hardware to play their favourite games. This means having the latest Intel or AMD processors and graphics cards from NVidia or AMD. This is important for gaming laptops because gamers want the best performance possible as they’re always striving for higher frame rates to enable them to compete with the best.
Other features add to the price, like hi-res displays with G-Sync compatibility. Mechanical keyboards with RGB elements and an excellent array of physical ports. Also gamers want a laptop with faster memory, so games run faster and smoother. Faster memory will allow them to have more programs and apps open without slow-down.
It is also worth pointing out, with the shortage of graphics cards globally, gaming laptop prices are likely to rise even further. The lack for GPU availability in 2022 has made not just gaming laptops but all gaming PCs even costlier. And there’s no sign that it’ll subside anytime soon. So it maybe worth buying your gaming laptop now!
Check out this Tweet from Razers very own CEO.
Razer peripheral and laptop manufacturer’s CEO, Min-Liang Tan, warned in a Tweet that the cost of gaming laptops was about to get worse in 2022. The Razer CEO said: “Just had a long meeting to review our gaming laptops line for next year – looks like there are significant increases in component costs etc and we’ll be seeing price increases for next gen gaming laptops across the board (including the Razer Blade) next year,”.
Why Are Razer Laptops So Expensive?
One reason why Razer laptops are so expensive is that Razer is a premium brand, they have built since 2005, and like with all premium brands, (in any niche) you will pay much more for their products, compared to other brands. Razer is well-known and respected in the gaming industry, and consumers are willing to pay more for their products.
Since 2005, Razer has worked hard to build a reputation that, as I said, is highly respected by pro gamers, and enthusiasts alike. They made their name by only using high-quality materials in their builds. Their laptops also have unique designs with craftsmanship that’s second to none, which also makes them very costly compared to other brands on the market.
Razer laptops are designed solely for gaming and include features that other laptops do not. Such as Chroma-powered backlit mechanical keyboards with programmable buttons and super high-res displays. Plus, they always pack in the latest hardware from Intel, AMD, and NVidia, and have more memory and storage than any other making their laptops the top-performers they are today.
Additionally, this company offers a good warranty on its laptops that is unmatched in the industry. It’s all these features that make the Razer Blade laptop better suited for gaming and other high-end tasks.

Razer laptops are expensive because of the features listed above and more. They include everything a gamer can want in a laptop. First of all, they are very lightweight so much engineering is needed to pack such powerful hardware into smaller and smaller spaces.
Another thing that makes Razer laptops so expensive is their build quality. They use high-quality materials like CNC-milled aluminium resulting in a strong and durable sleek chassis. Plus, mechanical keyboards with Chroma RGB elements, they also feature laser-cut speakers with THX Spatial audio that will make your games and movies sound amazing.
In addition, they feature the latest and greatest in graphics, the latest RAM, and upgradable PCIe and SATA SSD storage, and the best-in-class processing technology. Not to mention, superb thermal technology, and even though most other laptop brands have these features, their laptops may not look as good as a Razer Blade laptop.
Are Razer Laptops Over Priced?
Is Razer Overpriced? No, not really! If you compare their high-spec gaming laptops in 2021 with other top gaming laptop brands. You’ll see mostly that they are similarly priced?
Take a Dell Alienware gaming laptop, for instance, with an Intel i7 11 Gen CPU paired with an RTX 3080 32GB RAM 1TB SSD. And then compare that with a Razer Blade 15-inch laptop with the same spec. ( DELL Alienware $2949 – Razer Blade $3099) If you think Razer is overpriced you may be surprised to see there is only a $200 difference in with these two models.
It is a similar story with an MSI laptop, if you look at their MSI GS Series – 15.6″ laptops, again with an RTX 3080 and an Intel 11th Gen Core i7 CPU. The one we’ve seen on Newegg retails at around $3600, which is more expensive than both but it comes with 16 GB DDR4 RAM whereas the Alienware and Razer laptops have 32GB RAM.
At the end of the day, Razer is a good company that makes high-end gaming laptops and peripherals. Their laptops are known for their high price tags, but people continue to buy them because of the unique features and quality they offer. The truth, however, is that you can save money if you know how to pick out a laptop with similar specs at another brand. But will it be the same quality, will it be as reliable, or look as good?
Comparing Razer Vs Alienware Laptop Prices
How Much Are Razer Laptops?
Razer laptop’s initial price varies according to their specs. Most people believe Razer Blade laptops are expensive is because they don’t have any laptops in the budget space. All their laptops come with the best hardware money can buy.
Their high-end models start at around $2000, while more powerful Razer laptops can go up to $4000 or even more if you want some exclusive edition. Their new Blade Advanced laptops, (shown below) come with FHD 360Hz displays and the latest mobile graphics cards with 16GB of dedicated memory and 14-Core processors, plus, 64 GB DDR5 4800Hz RAM and start around $3600.
The advantage of buying an expensive product like one of the Razer Blade laptops below is that they have better quality, and they will offer much better performance, and will last much longer than cheap products would. So, is Razer Overpriced? Well, no, because you get what you pay for.
With all this said, why do people still buy Razer laptops even though they are so expensive? It is because they are fantastic durable, high-spec machines that are perfect for gaming and multimedia use and wouldn’t look out of place in a pro designers office either.

Are Razer Laptops Worth It?
Are Razer laptops worth it? Ultimately the choice is yours, but the fact of the matter is that Razer builds the best laptops with the best-in-class hardware available. Razer’s new Blade laptops have faster memory (DDR5 4800Mhz) and more storage options. They have killer 1080p webcams with Windows hello functionality and the latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless technology. Ports are aplenty too, with no less than two Thunderbolt 4 ports on their 17-inch models, amongst others.
Batteries have improved as well, now with bigger batteries and power bricks to help accommodate all the extra power gamers need while on the go. Plus, they’ve added an extended battery warranty of up to two years. It seems Razer has been reading and listening to gamers’ needs.
As for their performance, a Razer Blade laptop will offer unprecedented gaming performance and one that’s unmatched by many others. Yes, they’ve improved their laptops in 2022, but these improvements have been evident for years. Check out all the good reviews they get from big laptop testing giants Notebookcheck and others like Laptop Mag.
Yes, the price is high, but you get what you pay for. Razer laptops are durable and fast and will run any game you wish to play. Owning a Razer laptop would be like having your very own on-the-go PC without wires. As well as aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Razer uses Vapor Chamber Cooling
Razer’s cooling technology is another reason why Razer laptops are worth it. Unlike most gaming laptops, which use traditional cooling technology with metal and copper pipes. Razer uses vapor chamber cooling to ensure their laptops are kept at optimum temperatures.
If you look at the results below, which shows the heat output for each high-spec laptop tested. Clearly, Razer’s laptops are as good if not better in the thermal department than most others, even under heavy load.
However, Razer laptops are known to experience hot keyboards and palm rests. Most people think this is bad. But, it is mainly because of how vapor chamber cooling works, as it pushes heat up and out through the keyboard/keys. Yes, you’ll feel the warmth while typing or gaming, but that’s much better than an overheating CPU or GPU. Don’t you think?
What’s more, they would be great if you already own multiple chroma-powered Razer devices as you can easily integrate them all. Additionally, their Chroma backlit keyboards offer amazing levels of customization, with each key being programmable using their very own Razer Synapse software. So when it comes to things like light effects and colour profiles, there is pretty much nothing else out there quite like them at this point.
As for music lovers or movie watchers, their new Blade 17-inch laptops have no less than eight laser-cut front-facing speakers. Meaning there’s no need for dedicated speakers or headsets to enjoy an immersive audio experience. And finally, their warranties are unmatched by any other brand on the market right now. With RazerCare, they will have your back from day one.
So, why are Razer laptops so expensive, and are they worth it? Yes, Razer laptops are worth it because they are durable, high-spec machines that work well for all forms of gaming and multimedia use. They would not look out of place in an office environment either. Ok, the initial price tag might be a little pricey for some. But the extra money you pay is justified by the quality you get with these beautifully crafted gaming machines.
Razer laptops are expensive, but they’re similarly priced to other brands with the same hardware and features. However, you may still find yourself a gaming laptop that costs less with similar specs. But would it be as good in quality? Or would it last as long as a Razer laptop? Probably not. But the choice is ultimately yours.
