Call of Duty Warzone is the hottest new game on laptops, but you need to make sure your computer has enough memory if it’s going to run smoothly. Recommended by Activision is at least 8 GB RAM for optimum experience with 12 GB being better and 16 even better since other tasks will take longer when running CODWZ.
As an example: My laptop had 16GB of RAM. During my Warzone gameplay, my Omen hub software would be taking care of my system vitals, monitoring my core temps and fan speed. At the same time, Nvidia’s GeForce experience would be recording my gameplay. All these tasks running simultaneously would utilize roughly 15.6GB of memory. So taking that on board, I would recommend having at least 16 GB RAM.
A laptop for Warzone would need to be powerful enough with at least an 8th Gen Intel Core processor or AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen 2.6GHz CPU, plus, a discrete graphics card, at the very least a GTX 970M Nvidia GPU. If you’re lucky enough find one having this hardware then your game will run smoothly without any lag.
Mainly, why each of the top five picks listed above have at least 16 GB RAM and more than the recommended processor and graphics power to run Warzone smoothly using a medium to high pre-set.

Specifications – Processor: Intel i7-11800H, MB: 4.6 GHz; Display size: 15.6in; RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200 GHz; Display resolution: 1920 x 1080px; GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6 GB GDDR6; Storage: 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD; Weight: 2.50kg; Operating System: Windows 10 Home;
Acer’s gaming machines have carved out a sizable niche in the gaming laptop space. The Acer Helios Predator series are a firm favourite amongst gaming laptop enthusiasts, this model would be an excellent gaming laptop for Warzone. Some have said, its an incredibly capable gaming laptop that has a lot of value for the price.
Moreover, it’s one of a few Acer laptops with a new RTX 30 series mobile graphics chip. This one comes with the RTX 3060, with 6GB of memory. Unfortunately, Acer is one of only a few laptop brands that don’t display the TDP of the RTX GPUs, so it could be one of 11 Nvidia RTX 3060 variants.
The rest of the Acer Predator specification is decent. It pairs a fast Intel 8 core 11800H mobile processor with an impressive turbo peak of 4.6GHz, and a 24 MB Intel Smart Cache, beating any other mobile CPU on this page. The components are concluded by 16 GB DDR4-2933 Dual Channel memory, which means two slots, so a maximum of 32 GB is possible. As for the storage, the Acer Helios comes with a stock 512GB PCIe SSD.
Acer Predator Build and Features
Around the edges, the Acer Predator Helios 300 has three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A Ports and one super-fast charging USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C Port. In addition, the screen has good quality too, it’s a Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS display, and it has a 4-zone backlit keyboard with concave-shaped see-through WASD and arrow keys. Finally, the cooling of this laptop is taken care of by the 4th GEN AERO BLADE 3D TECHNOLOGY, shown below.
Acer Predator Verdict
This Acer Predator gaming laptop will serve up an impressive gaming performance, especially in Call of Duty Warzone. My only gripe would be not knowing the TDP of the graphics chip. Apart from that, it would make an excellent laptop for Warzone, not too expensive considering you get the latest 11th Gen processor from Intel, and there’s plenty of upgrade options. That said, the price does get you a decent mid-range laptop with the solid build quality of a more expensive option and comes with more than the recommended hardware to run Call of Duty Warzone smoothly.

In addition, the HP Omen comes with a 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. Either specification would be fine for delivering smooth Call of Duty Warzone laptop gaming to you on a plate. The Omen laptops are quick to start, unbelievably, even quicker to charge and come with excellent 144Hz displays. 3. Best Budget Laptop For Call Of Duty Warzone
Specifications – Processor: Intel i5 10300H, MB: 4.0 GHz; Display size: 15in, 144 Hz refresh rate; RAM: 8GB DDR4; Display resolution: 1920 x 1080px; GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4 GB GDDR6; Storage: 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD; Weight: 2.74kg; Operating System: Windows 10 Home;
The Acer Nitro laptop ranges are popular budget to mid-range gaming machines and this 15 inch model deserves a spot on the list of the best affordable budget Call of Duty Warzone laptops in early 2021.
Simply because Acer paired this model with the Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU together with a decent companion, the Ryzen 4000 series processor that runs at 2.3 GHz with a possible turbo peak at 4.0 GHz that will get you 60fps with high settings and 80+ on medium/low in Call of Duty Warzone.
There is also 8 GB of dual-channel memory upgradable to 32GB and a decent amount of storage. Although COD Warzone will surely utilize that. Furthermore, the Acer Nitro has an impressive 144Hz FHD IPS 15.6-inch display, the same as the HP Omen laptop above and will make this laptop perfect for gaming at 1080p.
Even though this GPU lags behind the other Nvidia RTX 30 series cards above there is still enough power to run Warzone. However, using the best Warzone settings will improve this gaming machine further.
Although, the performance would depend on the cooling of the laptop. However, if Acer’s cool boost technology is as good as some say, it should help spread the heat to keep the system responsive and cool during intense Warzone gameplay.
For the record, there haven’t been many complaints regarding heat issues, only that you would benefit from using a laptop cooling pad. If only to give you a more comfortable position when gaming.
Design, Ports and Features
On the design, the Acer Nitro 5 looks pleasing but due to its affordability, there is not much to really shout about. The chassis combines plastic with a metal frame, and the finish is simple, which is mostly black.
On the sides, there are a plethora of ports including the newest USB 3.2 standard with Gen1 and 2 support, high-speed HDMI 2.0, and the other usual suspects to give you ultra-fast transfer speeds. Along with, WiFi-6 which is the fastest available on portable devices.
The cooling isn’t too bad either, featuring Acer’s very own cool boost tech with twin fans and a quad exhaust port design. Which will increase the fan speed by as much as 10% and reduce operating temperatures by up to 9% when under heavy load.
Finally, the Acer Nitro’s 4-zone RGB keyboard comes with a number pad and a dedicated Nitro-Sense key, giving you quick access to your system vitals software. The keys are soft, with a 1.6 mm travel distance and the WASD and arrow keys are highlighted for easy visibility.
What You Get With The Acer Nitro
- USB 3.2 Gen 1
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- HDMI 2.1 (Ultra Fast)
- Mini Display Port
- SD media card reader
- NO HDD

Acer Nitro 5 Laptop Verdict
The Acer Nitro 5 is a great budget gaming laptop for Call of Duty Warzone. It offers plenty to improve with RAM and storage. It has an ok battery life that will last you three or four hours while gaming! The graphics card doesn’t have Ray-Tracing or DLSS which I’m sure you’ll get over. I recommend the ACER NITRO 5 without hesitation because overall its performance meets expectations based on other reviews and price.

4. Alternative Laptop For Call of Duty Warzone
Specifications – Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H , MB: 4.4 GHz; Display size: 15in, 144 Hz Panel; RAM: 16GB DDR4; Display resolution: 1920 x 1080px; GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti 4 GB GDDR6; Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD; Weight: 2.39kg; Operating System: Windows 10 Home;
The Lenovo Legion 5 is one of the best mid-range Call of Duty Warzone laptops. This one is paired with the new AMD Ryzen 7 5800H Processor that combines eight cores with sixteen threads, that clocks between 3.2Ghz and max peak around 4.4GHz with a total 16GB L3 Cache.
Lenovo have paired the AMD CPU with a budget friendly ray-tracing Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti 4GB GPU. Which has ensured this laptop is placed in the lower mid-range gaming laptop bracket. The components are concluded by 16GB DDR4 SDRAM and 512GB NVMe SSD, therefore, it will run Warzone without a problem.
However, Warzone does have high VRAM requirements and with the RTX3050 Ti only having 4GB you will have to reduce the in-game settings to enjoy respectable frame rates. That said, the RTX 3050Ti will offer decent gaming performance at 1080p on medium to high settings.
Design, Ports and Features
On the design, the Lenovo Legion doesn’t really push the envelope, but it looks nice and simple with a sleek design. The ports are littered across the back of the chassis. The hinge design is nice, as they’re not flat against the edge like other laptops and ensures the Legion looks how a gaming machine should look.
Other than that, the vents are big, stretching across the base, and the two exhausts on sides will allow for plenty of airflow. Meanwhile, the air vents are supported by dual-channel thermal mechanisms and Q Control 3.0, giving you complete control over your core temperatures and system settings.
Also, the AMD Lenovo Legion 5 boasts an auto-optimize mode and will optimize the laptop in certain games. So, for games that are dependent on the performance of the GPU or the CPU, the Legion 5 will detect that and then will distribute power where it is needed, which will ensure maximum frame rates.
Furthermore, the keyboard does have a number pad and has dedicated media keys. The soft-landing switches have a 15mm key travel, although the arrow keys may be an obstacle, I am sure you will get over it. On the downside, there is no fingerprint reader for added security.
Finally, the display is a 15″ FHD widescreen display engineered for the graphical pyrotechnics with a 100% sRGB colour accuracy, and it boasts refresh rates of 165Hz with a 3ms response time.
What You Get With The Legion 5
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
- USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- Display Port 1.4
- Mic / headphone combo
- RJ45 ethernet / HDMI 2.0
- Intel Wi-Fi 6
- Q Control 3.0 and Dual Burn
- Coldfront 4.0 Cooling System
- NO Fingerprint reader
- NVIDIA GeForce Record Gameplay
- 165Hz FHD Display
Lenovo Legion 5 Verdict
The Lenovo Legion 5 is a gaming machine that will help you master Call of Duty Warzone. You get 16 GB RAM and more can be added, as well as an affordable Ryzen CPU with RTX graphics card for the perfect setup in this price range! Plus it has a 15″ FHD display with refresh rates up to 165Hz (3ms response times). If we’re talking about laptops at all here – I don’t think there’s anything else like this one on sale right now because its specifications speak volumes: expect top performance without breaking your bank account.

What is Call of Duty Warzone?
Call of Duty Warzone is a fast-paced, high stakes shooter and free to play Battle Royale, released some time in 2020. Now with over 1000 million players from around the globe. It’s located in a battle royale style map, players will fight to survive in a constantly shrinking kill box while using custom weapons.
One of the many benefits to playing Call of Duty Warzone is it offers cross-platform play, which means you can hook up with your friends on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC, including laptops, and join in and play in the same game. Although, this has been questioned many times over, as it’s (cross platform) not to popular across the gaming community.
Warzone consists of as many as three different games modes, Battle Royale, Plunder, and Rebirth, which is by far my favourite game mode. The Plunder and Battle Royale modes are fought out on the Verdansk map. Whereas Rebirth is played out on Vozrozhdeniya island.
If you didn’t already know, Vozrozhdeniya island is the location of the “Rebirth Mission” made famous in Black Ops and back in the Cold War, this was the location of Russia’s Bioweapons.
Warzone Battle Royale Mode Tips
The game modes in Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale are as follows. You can either be a solo player and take on 149 other players or join up with other team members to fight it out against them individually, duos/trios style if desired but there’s no difference between those options so just pick whichever you think would suit your preferred playing style best!
The aim is always to ensure that one team remains alive which will happen automatically when all survivors have been eliminated from each match-up at the end of playtime – sounds simple enough right?! 😉
If not here we go! Warzone starts by jumping out of the plane into Verdansk and your first goal is to land, grab a gun and any other ground loot you come across at the same time grab yourself as much money as possible, you need at least $10,000. Although $14,000, or £15G would be better.
So you can purchase your loadout ($10,000) which consists of ten different gun setups. But, it’s always a good idea to grab a UAV at the same time as buying your loadout. This way you can activate the UAV so you are aware of where the nearest players are before you release your loadout drop.
Trust me, there have been many times I have run around looking for money to buy a loadout. And I’ve been watched by other players waiting for me to drop my loadout so I’m then sitting there selecting my guns. At which point I am an easy target for a quick snipe.
In Game Warzone Tips
In game you need to be stealth, quick, and like I said, be aware of your surroundings at all times. You never know where there might be a sniper or camper lying in wait. And, Warzone is a camper’s paradise.
Another thing to note, both Warzone solos and Warzone duos can be highly stressful and very sweaty, so you need to be on your toes at all times. I have around 50 solo wins which is not bad considering I only play a couple of hours every other day.
Best of luck…
Warzone Plunder Mode
In Warzone Plunder mode, your goals are slightly different, where your main goal is to collect as much money as possible. The first team to collect $1million are the winners.
Plunder game mode is superb for helping to level up your weapons and for practising your aim, also getting used to the Verdansk map. Other than that, you need to loot box’s just like you would playing Battle Royale, and you can also earn money quicker by completing contracts. i.e. recons, bounties, and scavengers.
Warzone Rebirth Island Mode
Rebirth Island first came to Warzone when they released Call of Duty Cold War. To be honest, Rebirth Island is by far my go-to game mode. It’s fast, furious, highly frustrating, and extremely exciting.
Currently, Rebirth is with squads, but they have previously had trios and duos. Similar to Battle Royale, you jump out of the plane, loot, buy your loadout and hunt down the other teams to win.
In my opinion, it is best to work as a team, although you may find when you play with random players it can be difficult. Especially if they don’t have mic’s.
The best strategy for Warzone Rebirth, is definitely to hunt down other teams as fast as possible. And try to take the high ground for the best chance to win. Moreover, camping or even holding an area does work, but it’s not always a good idea. Well, that’s my opinion anyway.
What Is Call of Duty Warzone Cold War?
Call of Duty Cold War is a different game mode altogether than Warzone. It consists of three modes, zombie mode, multiplayer, and campaign mode.
The Zombie mode is great fun to play and will give you many hours of intense and scary game play. However, for anyone new to FPS games, multiplayer mode is so difficult. This mode is just as sweaty if not more sweaty than playing solos in Verdansk.
For me, campaign mode is by far the best game mode in Call of Duty Cold War, this is the story mode. In which it takes you back in time to the Cold War era. Back through the battle of the 1980s, featuring the KGB. You visit places across Europe, Asia, and Russia and battle enemies along the way and complete different missions. During this time you are asked questions, and each answer you give will determine which route you take. This I think is the best part because the game has different endings.
Is buying Call of Duty Cold War worth it?
From my experience on Xbox, Yes, it is. I first purchased Cold war for my son to play on his Xbox. He has had so much fun going through campaign mode about five or six times. He also plays the other game modes although he plays against bots because he finds it too difficult to play with players live.
However, when Call of Duty Cold War first came out, I did spend a few days playing the game myself, just to see what all the fuss was about. Since then, I haven’t really played that much and I can only put that down to how good, and enjoyable it is to play Call of Duty Warzone.
Even after six months my son still only plays against bots and on the campaign mode. So for that reason, it has been a good buy but not the best. However, if skill based matchmaking actually exists then it would possibly make this game one of the best first person shooter games. It’s just too dam sweaty..
System Requirements: Gaming Laptops for Call of Duty Warzone
Every computer game title will have minimum and recommended system requirements to enable the game to run smoothly. They are there to guide and give you every opportunity to enjoy the best gaming performance.
Which is why I will always advise purchasing a gaming machine that will meet the recommended system requirements, if not above. Especially important for a game such as Call of Duty Warzone. And for that reason, I have ensured each gaming laptop listed above will meet these requirements. If not above.
But, I know it’s not always possible to purchase a high spec gaming machine, simply because you don’t have the budget. Or there could be many other reasons why you cannot find a laptop to meet the Call of Duty Warzone recommended system requirements.
Not to worry, each game will have minimum system requirements and a laptop for Warzone that meets these would still be ok and would run the game fine. Ok, you may not be busting out 150fps, but that’s ok. If you can at least surpass 60fps that’s still playable.
Therefore, a decent gaming laptop with a capable CPU that has 4 cores with 8 threads, along with a discrete GPU, ideally, a GTX 16 series or above. Paired with enough RAM and storage would still give you an enjoyable gaming experience.
Minimum System Requirements: Call of Duty Warzone Laptops?
A decent Call of Duty Warzone laptop at the very least would need an Intel i5 8th Gen 4 core CPU or the equivalent AMD mobile processor. However, from what I can see, it’s not easy to find a decent laptop paired with an 8th Gen processor. And, you will also need a discrete graphics card, the problem is, there aren’t many 8th Gen Intel machines paired with the required graphics card. Which also has at least 8 GB RAM.
Therefore, a gaming laptop with an Intel i5 10th Gen processor would be a better option, and this gaming machine would give you more chance to get nearer, or even above the minimum system requirements for Call of Duty Warzone.
Or, if you prefer AMD, the earliest AMD CPU to run Call of Duty Warzone would be a Ryzen 3 3rd Gen processor. But, starting from the Ryzen 3 3250U. Again, you would struggle to find the complete machine.
Unfortunately, it is much easier to meet the minimum spec for a PC due to being a lot more powerful at the lower end of the spectrum. As an example, all that is required is an Intel i3 4th generation CPU, paired with a GTX 670 mobile graphics card.
But don’t worry, there is hope.
How to check your laptop specification for DirectX?
Apart from a decent processor and a discrete GPU, you also need 8 GB RAM, ideally, an SSD. And running on Windows 7, but Windows 10 would be much better.
In addition, your gaming machine needs to be DirectX 12 compatible. If you are not sure if your laptop is DirectX 12 compatible, read on as I will show you how to check.
What is DirectX 12?
DirectX is a collection of APIs, better known as application programming interfaces, linked to your operating system. DirectX 12 helps with handling tasks related to your games, multimedia and video.
And the latest version of DirectX 12 came about when Microsoft released Windows 10 back in 2014. DirectX 12 allows developers such as NVIDIA and AMD to add additional graphic effects more efficiently to your laptops and PCs and reduces driver overhead at the same time.
To run the Call of Duty Warzone game title smoothly it is a requirement for your gaming laptop to be DirectX-12 compatible. Unfortunately, if you have the wrong version of Microsofts DirectX the game you want to play may not run on your system how it should.
That said, checking your laptop for compatibility is straight forward, please follow the step below;
- Select START and search RUN, click ENTER
- In the run, box type dxdiag, then click enter
- The DirectX diagnostic tool sheet should appear
- Select the SYSTEM tab at the bottom of the list, and you should see your version of DirectX
If the latest version of Windows is already installed, then you should have the latest DirectX version.
But, if you are unsure, you can run Windows Update. However, if you are running an older version or a different version of Windows, you may have issues installing the latest version of DirectX.
So my advice would be to upgrade your system to the latest version of Windows 10 and all will be good.

Below, are two budget Call of Duty Warzone laptops that will meet the minimum system requirements of COD Warzone. They have the required minimum GPU, RAM and storage to run COD Warzone. Frequently Asked Warzone Questions
Can I play Call of Duty Warzone on laptop?
If you’re asking, can I play Call of Duty Warzone on my laptop?, the answer is a resounding yes! There are plenty of laptops that will run Call of Duty Warzone just fine, and there is no need to pump thousands into buying the best gaming laptop for Warzone, just as long as it has the required hardware to meet Warzone’s minimum system requirements.
Each gaming laptop listed above will run Call of Duty Warzone without much fuss. Ok, they don’t have fearsome components like you would get with the latest Dell Alienware gaming machines. But they do have enough in the tank to sit somewhere between the minimum and the recommended hardware.
As an example, my current gaming machine is the impressive mid-range 2020 HP Omen. It pairs an Nvidia RTX 2060 and AMD Ryzen 7 4800H 8 Core processor with which I enjoy 130fps during my Warzone gameplay. This laptop didn’t break the bank, nor did I go into debt to buy it and now you can grab the same laptop with the new Ryzen 5000 series processor.
It goes to show a mid-range laptop is more than enough to run Call of Duty Warzone. Also, the other three budget laptops listed above will run Warzone just fine. You would only have to tone down the in-game graphics settings to enjoy a decent gaming performance.
As long as the laptop has 8GB RAM, (16GB would be perfect), a discrete GPU with 4 GB VRAM and a mobile processor with 4 cores and 8 threads. Along with enough storage (100 GB), you will be laughing all the way to your first Warzone win.
Can a gaming laptop run Call Of Duty?
The question of whether or not a laptop can run the newest Call of Duty game is one that has been asked by many people since its release. While it may seem like an impossible task, with the right hardware and the best Warzone settings you will be able to run Call of Duty on a gaming laptop.
With a gaming laptop you can play lots of games comfortably with at least 8GB RAM, but 16 GB would be better for Call of Duty. How do I know? Because it’s a game I jump onto everyday using my laptop, I have 16GB RAM. plus a decent GPU (RTX2060) and CPU (Ryzen 7 4800H). And with this hardware I enjoy 140+fps using these settings.
Some would say, you’ll be ok with only 8GB RAM, however, if that is all you have (RAM) don’t expect to be running any recording software or many other apps and programmes at the same time as running Call of Duty.
What are the best settings for Warzone?
The best settings for Warzone would help improve your Warzone gameplay and your laptops performance. But they will be different from the best Warzone PC settings.
So, if you are looking for the best Warzone laptop settings, I can help as I recently wrote an article outlining the Warzone settings I use, and they serve me well.
Although, there are some settings that will be different on your machine, as it depends on your hardware. But it’s worth testing to see what works best.
That said, some will be the same across the board.
Like, ensuring your drivers are up to date and especially your Nvidia graphics card drivers. And don’t forget you also need to ensure Nvidia’s GeForce experience drivers are up to date. Highly important for recording your gameplay.
Another setting worth enabling is Windows game mode which can improve your laptops gaming performance. However, it may not, so it’s worth enabling this and testing it and then disabling and then testing it again to see what works best.
For those using an Nvidia GPU, the control panel settings can also be adjusted to better suit Warzone. You can either do this globally or change the settings specifically for the game. Like, I said I have written an in-depth guide, and it’s worth checking it out if you are serious about improving your laptop for Warzone.
How long does it take to download Warzone?
Call of Duty Warzone is an incredibly large game, I mean you need at least 175 GB of laptop storage space available just for the game files. And, then it would depend on the speed of your internet so unless we know your internet speed it is hard to put an actual number on this.
However, just to put it into perspective, if your download speed was say 50 Mb/s it would take somewhere in the region of 8 or 9 hours to download the full game of Call of Duty Warzone.
But when the average download speed is around 15 Mb/s it will take double that time. From my experience with downloading Warzone, it actually took around 18 hours to download Warzone including the Cold War files as well onto my Xbox One.
Whereas the time was halved when I downloaded Warzone onto my gaming laptop, it took around nine hours to download and install the full game. Just make sure to plug in your device whether that’s a laptop or console directly into your internet via the ethernet cable. This way you will get the best possible internet download speed.
